Where is Roehampton?
Roehampton is based in leafy southwest London, in-between the neighbourhoods of Putney, Wimbledon, Richmond and Barnes.
It's a part of London known for its green spaces, cafés, riverside walks and relaxed neighbourhood feel, while still being well connected to the rest of the city.
From local markets and shopping spots to live music, sporting events, nightlife and central London's culture, Roehampton gives you easy access to every side of student life in the capital.

Travelling by train
Barnes is the nearest railway station, around a 15-minute walk from the University’s main entrance. Eight trains per hour connect Barnes with Putney, Clapham Junction, Vauxhall and London Waterloo, with regular services also running from Richmond, Hounslow, Twickenham and Weybridge.
For a quicker journey from the station, the 265 and 419 buses stop outside our campuses, with approximately 15 services running each hour.
Students based at Whitelands College, which is around a 10-minute walk from the main campus, can also travel to Putney station and take the 85 or 430 bus.

Travelling by tube
Putney Bridge and Southfields are the nearest Underground stations, both served by the District line. From Putney Bridge, the 265 connects with both campuses and the 85 serves Whitelands College, while the 493 links Southfields with both campuses.
Hammersmith is also nearby, providing connections to the Piccadilly, District, Hammersmith & City and Circle lines. Take the 419 bus towards the river, followed by around a 10-minute walk to the station.
The Central line is also accessible from Shepherd’s Bush, with bus connections available via Hammersmith and Barnes.

Travelling by bus
The University is well served by local bus routes. The 265, 419 and 493 stop outside the main entrance, providing easy access to the main campus. These services also stop within a short walk of Whitelands College at Roehampton Lane, Danebury Avenue.
Whitelands College, located just off Holybourne Avenue, is also served by the 85, 170 and 430, giving students additional connections to Putney, Kingston and surrounding areas.
For late-night travel, the 85 operates 24 hours a day. The N72 runs along Roehampton Lane towards Hammersmith and Acton, while the N74 provides connections to central London, including the West End and Baker Street.

Travelling via airport
Heathrow is our closest airport. It’s about 30 minutes away by car or taxi, and just over an hour away by public transport.
Gatwick is also easy to get to, and is about 45 minutes away by car, and an hour on public transport.
