Student studying at a desk

Starting university is a big step, and at Roehampton, you'll be supported by a dedicated team of academic specialists, personalised support services and flexible learning resources designed to help you succeed.

Whether you're looking to build confidence, develop your study skills, prepare for assessments or enhance your academic performance, you'll have access to the guidance, expertise and resources you need to thrive throughout your degree.

Your academic support network

Throughout your studies, you'll be supported by a team of academic specialists who are here to help you make the most of your university experience. Whether you need advice on assignments, study techniques, research skills, or the latest learning technologies, support is always available.

Personal Tutor

From day one, you'll have a dedicated Personal Tutor, an academic member of staff within your subject area who will get to know you, support your progress and provide personalised guidance throughout your degree.

Your Personal Tutor will:

  • Help you choose modules that match your interests and career goals
  • Support your academic development and study skills
  • Offer guidance on future opportunities and next steps.

You'll be in contact with them right from the start, and meet regularly, both in person and online throughout your degree.

Alongside your Personal Tutor, you'll have access to an Academic Engagement Coach who can help you build confidence, develop effective study habits and make a successful transition to university life.

They'll work with you throughout your studies, helping you prepare for assessments, identify areas where additional support may be beneficial, and develop strategies to improve your academic performance. They can also connect you with specialist services whenever you need extra help.

Module Convenor

Each module is led by a Module Convenor, an academic specialist who will support your learning, answer subject-specific questions, and help you get the most from your studies.

Programme Leader

Your Programme Leader oversees your degree programme and works closely with students to ensure you have the best possible academic experience.

Dissertation Supervisor

When you complete your dissertation or final-year project, you'll be supported by a dedicated supervisor who will provide expert guidance, feedback, and advice throughout the process.

"Another aspect of the course that I truly value is the Personal Tutor system. Beyond supporting students academically, our personal tutors are genuinely committed to helping those who are eager to learn and grow outside the classroom. They are always generous with their advice, whether it concerns career development, creative projects, or navigating the film industry."
