Every year, there are a number of events for our alumni to attend. These include reunions, career based days and lectures. Below is a table listing the events that are currently scheduled to take place. This table is regularly updated so make sure to keep checking back. Honorary Degree Ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall - 15 May 2017

On 15 May 2017 the University of Roehampton are hosting an Honorary Degree Ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall. All former students from Digby Stuart, Froebel, Southlands and Whitelands Colleges, who were awarded a Certificate of Education (or Teaching Certificate) before 1981, are invited to receive an Honorary Degree in recognition of the work required to gain this certificate and subsequent services to education. 

The Ceremony for the Conferment of Honorary Degrees will be held in the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank, London SE1 8XX on Monday 15th May at 11.00 a.m. and last about 75 minutes. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the Royal Festival Hall; each College will host its own reception.

Ticketing has now closed and the Royal Festival Hall is at capacity. However, you may continue applying for receiving your honorary award by post. This must be received by noon on 31st March 2017.


We will be retaining all international tickets so that they can be collected from our Welcome Desk at the Royal Festival Hall. The Welcome desk will be situated on the 2nd floor of the Festival Hall by the main entrance.

We regret that there are no tickets for guests. We are of course delighted by the overwhelming response to the event but we do realise that it will cause disappointment. We have arranged for the RFH and café to open at 8.30 to allow for plenty of time to arrive, robe where applicable and – most importantly – meet up with friends. This also means you can robe and be with your family to have photographs taken before it is too busy. The really busy areas will be the receptions after the ceremony, and we will be asking friends and family not to attend the receptions. We have asked the Festival Hall whether it will be possible to show the ceremony on the monitors outside the auditorium - they haven't got back to us yet. Will there be photographs or a DVD available? - As well as the standard graduation photo portraits offered by Ede and Ravenscroft we have employed two photographers – their images will be available to view and purchase online. We will be publishing the web link of this page as soon as we have it and also including it with the information that we will send with your ticket. We are currently investigating with the RFH the possibility of producing a DVD of the ceremony.

Can I still hire a robe? - If you have not ordered a robe but wish to do so there will a limited number of robes available to hire on the day. We would suggest you arrive early if you wish to hire a robe on the day. Wearing a gown, either owned or hired, is optional; it is the University of Roehampton that is conferring the honorary degree not your individual colleges or any other institutions. Therefore it must be a University of Roehampton gown and hood that must be worn. This can purchased (not advised) or hired; either are optional. The university hood is yellow, red and blue.

What do I need to wear if I'm not wearing a gown? - The graduation ceremony is a formal event so we ask that you dress appropriately, however we also recommend that you dress comfortably.

Where do we collect our certificates from on the day?- Certificates can be collected before or after the ceremony from the four college receptions. They will be packaged in A4 'DO NOT BEND' envelopes.

What is included in the reception?- At the reception you will be able to enjoy light refreshments and drinks among your fellow honoraries. Please note, this is not lunch just drinks and canapes. Vegetarian and gluten free options will be available. You can also collect your certificates from the reception.

Which degree will I be awarded? - You will be awarded a Bachelor of Education 'Honoris Causa'. The date of the award will be 15 May 2017.
