Every year, there are a number of events for our alumni to attend. These include reunions, career based days and lectures. Below is a table listing the events that are currently scheduled to take place. This table is regularly updated so make sure to keep checking back. Honorary Degree Ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall - 15 May 2017

On 15 May 2017 the University of Roehampton are hosting an Honorary Degree Ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall. All former students from Digby Stuart, Froebel, Southlands and Whitelands Colleges, who were awarded a Certificate of Education (or Teaching Certificate) before 1981, are invited to receive an Honorary Degree in recognition of the work required to gain this certificate and subsequent services to education. 

The Ceremony for the Conferment of Honorary Degrees will be held in the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank, London SE1 8XX on Monday 15th May at 11.00 a.m. and last about 75 minutes. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the Royal Festival Hall; each College will host its own reception. Tickets for the Royal Festival Hall go on sale on 21st February 2017 and ticket sales will close on 24th March 2017. After this date we will know if any tickets will be available for guests. Please check this webpage regularly. 

Booking a ticket for the ceremony: Tickets are £30 each, this includes light refreshments and drinks at the reception.

Booking opens at 10am on Tuesday 21st February and will close on Friday 24th March. You will only be permitted to buy one ticket.

  • You will have to create a simple password.
  • When you have booked your ticket it is optional to hire a robe.
  • You will be given an option where your ticket can be delivered to a different address than your payment address. If you have no UK address that you can use please use this address: Gilly King, University of Roehampton, Roehampton Lane, London, SW15 5PJ. 
  • Before payment you will be asked to enter your college, date of leaving college, and the name you would like on your certificate. This is your choice, there are several options. Your name at college, your name now, or a combination of both. For example Gilly Cooper or Gilly King or Gilly King (née Cooper) or Gilly Cooper King.
  • If you have a registered carer and have not informed us about it, please contact Gilly King.

FAQs:

Will all the tickets sell out on 21st February? We have 1700 seats reserved for alumni. We will review the situation at the end of the day on the 21st February and update this webpage.

Do I need to wear a gown? - Wearing a gown, either owned or hired, is optional.

What hood do I need to order? - The university hood is yellow, red and blue. This hood option will be the only one you will be able to order on the Ede and Ravenscroft website.

Do I need to book on 21st February? - Booking for alumni is open from 21st February until 24th March. Tickets will not sell out in this time. There is no advantage to booking early as seats are being allocated by college year group, with our more mature alumni and disabled alumni being seated closest to the accessible areas.

Which degree will I be awarded? - You will be awarded a Bachelor of Education 'Honoris Causa'. The date of the award will be 15 May 2017.

Digby Stuart Annual Lecture: 'The Office Catholic' Experiences and Reflections

The lecture will be delivered by Julie Etchingham, ITV news presenter and the first woman to be named Royal Society Presenter in 2010. Repeat winner in 2016.

Held in the Digby Stuart Chapel, doors open at 5:30pm, lecture at 6pm, followed by a drinks reception. This event is free to attend and open to everyone. For more details please contact Jonathan Carter.
