Waste, Recycling and Reuse

Waste is one of the Universities most significant environmental impacts and we produce over 1000 tonnes of it across the University every year. Please help us to reduce waste and increase recycling and reuse by following the waste and recycling guidance below:

Mixed Recycling Bins (Clear bags)

  • Glass (bottles and jars)
  • Cartons (including Tetra Pak cartons)
  • Plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays
  • Paper and cardboard
  • Tins and cans

General Waste (Non-recyclable)(Black Bags)

  • Tissues
  • Foil
  • Crisp packets
  • Sweet wrappers
  • Plastic films
  • Food

Charity Recycling Banks (Scope and British Heart Foundation)

  • Clothes
  • Books
  • DVDs
  • Textiles
  • Accessories

All items placed into these banks must be bagged – each bag donated is worth approximately £20 to the charities
