University of Roehampton London welcomes Dr Sally Akehurst as new Dean of Life and Health Sciences

The University of Roehampton London has appointed Dr Sally Akehurst as the new Dean of Life and Health Sciences, and she is set to join the university on 26 June 2023.

Dr Akehurst brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously held the position of Head of School of Human Sciences at the University of Derby since 2018. Prior to this, Dr Akehurst played a pivotal role in the growth and success of both Sport and Exercise Science and the broader Life Sciences at the institution.

As an active researcher, Dr Akehurst specialises in personality and performance under pressure in sport. She has worked as an accredited sport psychology practitioner, providing support to a variety of athletes and coaches across all levels.

Dr Akehurst is passionate about providing high-quality education and experiences for students, advancing new knowledge through research and innovation, fostering strong external partnerships, and building a team-focused, high-performance culture.

Speaking on her appointment, Sally expressed her excitement at joining the University of Roehampton London, stating “I am delighted to join Roehampton, a university that values excellence, innovation, and student experience in creating a positive impact for society. I look forward to working with colleagues, students, and external partners in building on the achievements and future growth and success of the School of Life and Health Sciences.”
