Success for first cohort of Extended Masters students
The University of Roehampton’s first group of Extended Masters students have successfully completed their course and progressed onto postgraduate study.
Students from different countries completed the course in September. The course is designed to help international students develop the necessary skills to pursue a Masters degree in Business or Computing at Roehampton.
Taught using a variety of methods, including lectures, case studies, group work and undertaking ‘real life’ research, the students learnt about academic research, how to improve their English language and communication skills as well as studying a specialist module in either Business or Computing.
Syeda Shifa Fatima from India who chose to study at Roehampton for its interesting courses and beautiful campus says: “This course has improved my research, writing and critical-thinking skills. It has also enhanced my English language proficiency and provided a solid foundation in business.
“The tutors were very supportive, and the campus facilities were excellent. Overall, the Extended Masters course has boosted my confidence and prepared me well for my Masters degree.”
Victoria Charles, International Curriculum Manager from the Continuing School of Education, who teaches the course alongside Dr Sharmistha Choudhary, Colm Dalton, Mohammad Ahmad, Dr Clara Babaoye, Charlotte Thomas and Ken O'Connell says: “It was a delight to welcome the students to Roehampton and to support them on the path to postgraduate study.
“I was particularly impressed by the commitment of the students and their enthusiasm for learning. It was clear how much their confidence grew over the 10 weeks. I wish them every success in their future studies and careers.”
