The University of Roehampton has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Support for Students category at the Times Higher Education Awards 2024. Over 70 institutions have been shortlisted for the awards, the winners will be announced on 28 November.

Roehampton’s Student Support & Success team was recognised for its 4P approach to supporting student wellbeing and success. The 4Ps represent:
- Predictive: utilising data to predict students in need of early intervention.
- Preventative: developing opportunities to support students to navigate the challenges across their academic journey.
- Proactive: supporting students before they arrive to aid transition or before their issues are exacerbated through early indicators of risk using data analytics.
- Personalised: adapt support based on unique needs of individuals.
Through the 4P approach, Roehampton has been able to deliver transformational change and overall, enhance students’ experience. The Student Support & Success team are using integrated data to identify early risk indicators from students, such as decreased attendance, which allows them to act quickly and intervene early before the issues worsen. In 2022/23, the approach allowed for 7,500 students who were considered at risk of poor outcomes to progress successfully with their studies.
Dr Aleata Alstad-Calkins, Director of Student Support & Success said: "I am very proud of the team for adapting and designing all their processes to align with the 4P Model and the results it has on student outcomes has been tremendous! It’s fantastic for all their hard work to be recognised with this shortlisted nomination."
