On Saturday 7 September, Southlands hosted a 70th anniversary reunion for five alumnae who attended Southlands College from 1952-1954. The head of Southlands College, Dr Christopher Stephens, hosted a lunch in the Senior Common Room, where there was much reminiscing and laughter.
All part of the same ‘college family’, they have all stayed in close contact since leaving Southlands in 1954. One alumna travelled from Canada to attend the reunion after moving there to teach. All five have had long careers in teaching, one becoming a headmistress and one dedicating her career to special needs.
A highlight from the day was showing the group their original college records which are stored in the archive. The special day ended with a photograph of our five alumnae and their daughters who had accompanied them to the reunion.
