I am a Fellow Member of Certified Practicing Accountants Australia and have several qualifications including a Master of Business Administration, Post Graduate Diploma in Business (B Law), Bachelor of Business (Acctg), and Advanced TESOL Diploma.

I have a special interest and experience in business excellence and business improvement and hold a Graduate Certificate in Business Excellence, and a Six-Sigma Black Belt. I am qualified to undertake organizational assessments under the Australian Business Excellence Framework and have extensive experience in facilitating the selection of corporate strategies, and developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic plans.

Biography

After a successful career working as a senior manager for a large Australian public listed company, primarily in strategic planning, business improvement, corporate governance, and finance roles, I commenced lecturing In China in 2014 teaching a variety of subjects including financial accounting, management accounting, international finance, macroeconomics, business analytics, and various marketing subjects.

I am passionate about assisting my students to succeed not only in their academic studies, but also in their chosen careers and in life generally. My basic teaching philosophy is sound teaching, mentoring, and guidance + student participation + student acceptance of responsibility for their own learning outcomes = improved learning outcomes and success.

My key areas of research/interest include indigenous learning methods and common ground between mainstream and indigenous learning pedagogies, methods for improving student participation in class, and Eastern versus Western Learning Styles.

I have mentored many students including indigenous adult learners entering university studies, and students that I have taught in China. I have also been a voluntary specialist director and English teacher for several community organizations in Brisbane.

I am married, have four children and live in Brisbane Australia. My personal interests include cooking, music, travel, sport, and gardening.

I believe in highly organised and quality teaching practices that leads to the constructive student-centred learning environment. So I design and plan my lesson plans, scheme of work and other teaching materials considering diverse needs of the students to help and provide support in their studies and developing lifelong learning skills. I also consider that growth and development is inevitable and essential factor in student's Life.

I am an active member of the Pearson education. I am an active Assessor of the Pearson education and RM Assessor for Cambridge Assessment. I regularly attend professional development courses launched by Pearson timely for continuous professional development. I have a membership of Harvard business review and hotel business review to keep myself updated with current knowledge and information of business management techniques and hospitality operations and developments. Journals of Business management and hospitality management and reviewing the changes in new editions of the books/e-Books of hospitality management are also part of the resources which keeps me up to date with the current developments in the Business and hospitality industry.

Biography

Having led a successful journey working in the corporate world where I started 5 companies successfully including a Micro-finance Bank. I accumulated a lot of experience in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, finance and economics. Coupled with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in International business and Finance and on verge of completion of a PHD in Development Economics and Finance.

My real actionable experience in economics and business is what makes me exceptional in each lecture room I step in. I believe that students need more than just text book knowledge simply because business and life are never an open book there are no rules in this game, hence I give my students real experiences to face life as a challenge not a test. I arouse a sense of self-belief in all my students and make them realize the power of thought. I have held lecturing roles in China, Dubai, South Africa, Canada and many other countries where I have been invited as a visiting lecturer and scholar for more than 5 years.

I have been privileged to serve as a board member of the British Chamber of commerce in Shanghai, An assistant Board of directors at LEEDS Micro-Finance Bank, Senior International business and investment Consultant for African Development Bank.

Biography

My foundations and interest in education began with a successful career in aviation and real estate. Working as a pilot, and in aviation operations and instruction, followed by creating and administering a national Real Estate network, and running hobby farms, exposed me to the need for effective training, education, and the many differences in learning styles.

I began teaching management related courses after the millennium and expanded to include Economics, Accounting, Finance, and other business classes. In teaching, having a well thought-out and interesting presentation combined with student willingness and responsibility for their learning leads to the best results.

Biography

I have an MBA from Indiana State University, and I have worked in China since 2002 at various public and private schools. From 2010-2014 I worked at two of China’s top business schools, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and Shanghai Jiaotong University Antai College. Most recently, I have taught Finance and International Business at Nanchang Hangkong University in a joint program. Aside from teaching, I have worked in administration in top business schools in China. I also have extensive experience as an entrepreneur and business manager.
