Skills

Make a difference to human lives with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.

Pending approval from the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA), this course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a sustainable career in the health sector.

You’ll gain a strong foundation to be a confident practitioner in the 4 pillars of practice which are:  

  • Dietetic practice 
  • Evidence-based practice 
  • Dietitians as a nutrition and dietetic resource 
  • Leadership and Management 

Learning

Experience a dynamic, contemporary curriculcum in state-of-the-art facilities. 

You will undertake activities to develop your ability to critically appraise and apply theory through case-based learning, simulation and on practice placements. 

The programme will integrate university-led modules with practice-based learning in simulated learning environments and external placements.

Specific entry requirements

Applicants will usually have qualifications in biology and chemistry at advanced level where learners take A-Levels. Candidates are expected to have GCSE at Grade 4 or above in English, Mathematics and a Science or equivalent qualifications.  

If English is not the first language, all applicants must be able to communicate in English to level 7 of the International English Language Testing System, with no element below 6.5. Students must undergo health screening to assess fitness to begin the course. Students must also complete an approved programme of immunisation, as recommended by the Department of Health. They must have full disclosure and the barring service screen prior to enrolment. Students must declare any criminal convictions, cautions, and bindings over when requested during the application and interview process. 

Additional entry requirements

  • Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of interest and some work experience in a relevant field and will also need to supply a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. 
  • Applicants must undergo health screening to assess their fitness to begin the course.  
  • Applicants must also complete an approved programme of immunisation, as recommended by the Department of Health. 
  • All applicants will undertake a values-based interview.
