The Council is the governing body of the University and carries responsibility for ensuring the effective management of the University and planning its future development. The Council is entrusted with funds, both public and private, and therefore has a particular duty to observe the highest standards of corporate governance. It also has a duty to enable the University to achieve and develop its primary objectives of teaching and research. It monitors the performance of the University against its Strategic Plan and targets, and is responsible for the solvency of the University and safeguarding its assets. The University has adopted a Statement of Primary Responsibilities that describes these key roles.
Nominations are now open for an elected Academic Support Staff member to Council. If you are a member of the Academic Support Staff and would like to nominate yourself for election to Council, please submit a Nomination Form by 5pm on Friday 19 October.
