Terms of Reference

1. To review established criteria and procedures for the promotion of members of the academic staff to Senior Lectureships, Principal Lectureships, Readerships and Professorships.
2. To consider and decide upon applications and recommendations for the promotion of members of the academic staff to the posts of Reader, Principal Lecturer and Senior Lecturer.
3. To appoint where appropriate appointment panels to consider particular applications for promotion to Reader; Vice-Chancellor to approve panels as Chair of Senate.
4. To review and recommend the composition of appointment panels for the external recruitment of academic staff to Lectureships, Senior Lectureships, Principal Lectureships, Readerships and Professorships.
5. To provide reports to Senate, including an annual report on the general pattern of promotions across the University.
6. To consider and approve progression for senior lectureships from point 42 to point 43 of the scale.

Frequency of meetings

As often as required.
