The Student Disciplinary Board is responsible to Senate for ensuring that students adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, and for overseeing the implementation of the Student Disciplinary Regulations.
Terms of Reference
In accordance with the Student Disciplinary Regulations, to consider cases of alleged misconduct by students, and determine appropriate outcomes and impose any appropriate sanctions.
- To appoint Disciplinary Officers under the terms of the Student Disciplinary Regulations.
- In accordance with the Student Disciplinary Regulations, to provide the necessary membership for the Senate Appeals Committee to hear the appeals of students against the outcomes of disciplinary cases.
- To ensure that the consideration of cases is conducted in a fair, transparent and impartial manner.
- To work with other University Committees to ensure that a proactive approach is taken to managing student misconduct.
- To review and report annually the Board’s activities, including any trends and issues, to Senate.
Frequency of Meetings
Student Disciplinary Hearings and Hearings of the Senate Appeals Committee will be held as often is required and on a case by case basis.
The Student Disciplinary Board should meet annually to discuss the year’s activities and to approve the annual reports to be submitted to Senate. The quorum for the annual meeting shall be half the membership plus one.

If insufficient members of the Student Disciplinary Board are available to form a Hearing Panel or Appeals Hearing Panel, then additional members may be sought from the membership of Senate with the approval of the Chair or Vice-Chair.
All members of the Student Disciplinary Board are also entitled to act as disciplinary officers under the Student Disciplinary Regulations.
