Welcome to Southlands!

Being a member of Southlands College brings opportunities for engaging fully with all the university has to offer, making friends, developing skills, building your CV, and ensuring you have an enjoyable and fulfilling time at Roehampton. Throughout the orientation period there will be lots to get involved with at Southlands, both online and on campus. Make sure you check the orientation calendar regularly and follow our social media (links below). You may also find this map helpful.

Throughout your time with us, at Southlands you can join college teams, societies, leadership programmes and learning events. You will find yourself invited to college social activities ranging from informal film and quiz nights to large, formal dinners with hundreds of other Southlanders.

Southlands will also be the focus for the support we offer you as a student at Roehampton. Our Wellbeing Officer, Accommodation Officer, Chaplaincy team, College Life Officer, Senior Warden and College Warden are all here to help you access the services you need and to ensure your time with us is safe, enjoyable and fruitful.

You can find out more about Southlands College on the college web pages found on the main University site.

Our approach to living and working together is grounded in our College’s strongly held values. These are shaped by our long history and our continuing relationship with the Methodist Church, which founded our college in 1872. Our college community is a very diverse one. Students and staff come from all over the planet, speak numerous languages, practise many religions, look, think and behave in many different ways. Part of the college experience includes the opportunity to get to know people with different backgrounds, skills and interests to your own, to learn from them, and to become a more understanding and inclusive person. Above all, at Southlands we value the dignity of all people and encourage respect, kindness and inclusivity.

Feel free to come and talk to me or any member of the college team whenever you like, or to contact us through email or social media. Whatever you are studying, I wish you every success and look forward to getting to know you during your time here.
