Julie Powell, Head of Careers and Employer Engagement in collaboration with Diana Jarvis and Monica Charsley, news reporters from Newsquest Media Group welcomed talented students from across the UK for an exciting day of journalism at the University of Roehampton.

Students and graduates from Roehampton collaborated with The Young Reporter Scheme , creating an online newspaper that will feature across Newsquest’s digital platforms. This was a fantastic opportunity for everyone involved, spending the day in a mock newsroom, gaining real-world media experience. Students received training on how to use newspaper design software, creating full pages ready for publication by the end of the day!

Julie commented: “What an incredible day! Our Roehampton students and graduates teamed up to mentor Year 10 and above pupils in creating a real, live online newspaper. It was incredibly inspiring to witness so much energy and creativity in the newsroom. We’re now looking forward to the grand finale – the Young Reporters Celebration Event – where pupils and their proud parents will come together to celebrate their achievements and receive well-deserved awards for their budding journalistic talents.”
