Prof Miranda Brawn launches ‘The Brawn Review: Boardroom Sustainability, Inclusion and Governance’ at the UK House of Lords

A new report titled ‘The Brawn Review’, launched at the UK House of Lords on 16 October 2025, seeks to examine the future of the boardroom from a sustainable, inclusive and governance perspective and to propose solutions. This is part of the tenth anniversary celebrations for The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Foundation (TMBDLF).

To celebrate its launch, Chancellor of the University of Roehampton, Baroness Sandy Verma, hosted the 10th Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Annual Lecture Event at the House of Lords in 2025.

Roehampton’s current MSc Global Marketing student, Brunella Gaviria, took on the role as head of events and designed the report for ‘The Brawn Review’ while working closely with Professor Miranda Brawn to ensure a successful outcome. Brunella graduated in 2025, with an undergraduate degree in marketing.

The Brawn Review is a new report led by Professor Miranda Brawn, the Founder, President and CEO of The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership with a foreword by Dame Fiona Woolf, former Lord Mayor of London and Founding Patron of The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Foundation.

The report aims to ‘focus on the recommendations about how sustainability, inclusion and good governance should be interpreted, updated and enforced in the boardroom’.

These 50 recommendations are endorsed by leading international organisations, global leaders, scholars and experts including Lord Davies who started the first of these types of reviews in 2011 called ‘The Davies Review’ which was a UK Government backed initiative to increase gender diversity in the boardroom.

Baroness Sandy Verma’s opening remarks addressed global threats to sustainability and inclusion, and the lack of diversity and inclusion that inspired the launch of The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Foundation. Now, 10 years later, the launch of The Brawn Review to provide recommendations to bridge the sustainability and inclusion gaps with the future of the boardroom in mind.

Professor Miranda Brawn, the first Honorary Professor of Business and Law School at the University of Roehampton, Portfolio Board Member, Founder of TMBDLF and The Brawn Review, Host of ‘The D.A.R.E. Podcast’ with global leaders delivered the annual lecture entitled “Why Diversity STILL Matters”. This included high-profile global leaders and eminent scholars and experts.

In her lecture, Professor Miranda Brawn highlighted three key reasons why diversity still matters today and set out several of the 50 recommendations that the findings of her research makes for immediate action after receiving contributions from 1,000 global board members across all backgrounds and sectors. Brawn explained that she wrote this report ‘out of hope that progress can continue to be achieved at a faster pace despite recent pushback.’
