Sabine Durrant Appointed Royal Literary Writing Fellow at Roehampton

The University of Roehampton is delighted to announce that Sabine Durrant, Royal Literary Writing Fellow (2025–2027), will be joining the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (AHSS) for a two-year post.

Sabine brings extensive experience in journalism and literature to the role. She is a former assistant editor of The Guardian and a former literary editor at The Sunday Times, with feature writing published across numerous British national newspapers and magazines. She currently works as a magazine profile writer for The Sunday Telegraph and contributes to The Guardian’s family section. Sabine is also the author of several books, including Remember Me This Way, Take Me In, and Finders, Keepers.

As part of her fellowship, Sabine will offer masterclasses, writing support workshops, and individual writing tutorials for all staff and students within AHSS, providing valuable guidance and inspiration for emerging writers.

Prof. Jane Kingsley-Smith, Interim Dean of AHSS, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sabine to the School and we look forward to integrating her within the wider research and teaching community, and to introducing her to our students, who will no doubt benefit greatly from her expertise.”

Sabine will be based in the Sir David Bell Building throughout her Fellowship and will be available on Mondays and Tuesdays for appointments with AHSS staff and students.

The Royal Literary Fund sponsors the Writing Fellow scheme, which supports writers in higher education. Further details about the Fund can be found here.
