University of Roehampton appoints Mark Anderson as new Chair of Council 

The University of Roehampton has appointed Mark Anderson as its new Chair of Council, with effect from 1 August 2026.

Mark brings extensive leadership experience across higher education, education publishing and digital learning. He has previously served as Chair of the Board of Governors at London Metropolitan University. His career spans senior roles in global education organisations, start‑ups and universities, with a strong focus on academic quality, student outcomes and institutional sustainability.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark Anderson said: 

“I am delighted to be joining the University of Roehampton as Chair of Council. Roehampton has a distinctive mission born from its history of ensuring access to higher education for underrepresented groupsIt has an important role to play in London’s higher education landscape. I look forward to working closely with Council, the ViceChancellor and senior team, and the wider University community.”

Professor Jean‑Noël Ezingeard, Vice‑Chancellor of the University of Roehampton, said: 

"Mark brings a deep understanding of higher education governance, alongside significant leadership experience across the education sector. I am very much looking forward to working with him as Chair of Council to deliver Roehampton’s strategy and mission."

Mark will succeed Phil Walker CBE, who steps down as Chair at the end of July 2026, after seven years of distinguished service to the University, including six years as Chair.
