Description: In recent years, marine organisms, especially brown seaweeds, have been highlighted as potential natural sources of bioactive compounds that can be used in functional foods or in human nutraceuticals for the management of metabolic syndrome. This project aims to investigate the effect of botanical seaweed extracts on gut health, immunity and metabolic disorders. It is an interdisciplinary project that addressing important questions about food, nutrition and health research and recognises the essential contributions of broader scientific disciplines to understanding the underpinning biological questions involved.
