Dr. Laura Way’s project explores gendered ageing and identity construction/maintenance amongst older punk women through creative workshops and the co-construction of a creative installation. The first creative workshop was held at Rockaway Park with the creation of a piece left with the art space for public exhibition.
Laura’s research builds on previous research with older punk women whilst exploring innovation in participatory (particularly creative) methods for exploring gendered ageing and punk identities, with the aims of generating and disseminating further new, evidence-based knowledge concerning gendered ageing through the lens of punk, and exploring the construction and sharing of alternative discourses concerning ageing, embedded in lived experience and authentic voices.
