Puzzle Therapy for Mental Health

Project led by Dr Kaz Brandt

Jigsaw puzzling (JP) is an activity that can be enjoyed by all age groups across the lifespan. However, very little research has been carried out on the mental health advantages that regular JP may bring to individuals, including older adults suffering from mental health difficulties. The aim of the proposed research is to therefore provide a first step in examining whether regular JP can improve mental health in older participants. Through quantitative and qualitative analysis, this research project will establish whether JP intervention is feasible to test and establish preliminary indications of efficacy for a more extended controlled trial in the future. This project is supported by funding from UKRI/Research England.
