In an increasingly competitive market place, the demand for Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) to meet and surpass the expectations of their current and future students is an essential component in the fabric of a University.
The work of the Student Engagement Working Group (SEWG) aims to further enhance the principles of student representation. It is strategically, morally and ethically bound to a broad range of activity culminating in the quality of our academic provision. SEWG goes beyond definitions to gather and disseminate the vast range of activities, views and approaches discussed under the general term ‘student engagement’.
Drawing on best practice from both students and staff across the sector, we will be using this to gain an evidenced picture of how a ‘student partnership’ can shape student experience, which when fully realised, goes beyond feedback, problem resolution and membership of committees, to provide opportunities for real change in the students themselves and their experiences at the institution. Partnerships with our students will not be seen as a set of discrete exercises or engagement mechanisms, but as a way of framing the culture of the community.
The Student Engagement Working Group (SEWG) was formed to provide a strategic lead across the university to ensure that Roehampton students:
- Are fully engaged in all aspects of academic quality assurance
- Are at the heart of all academic enhancement initiatives
- Feel that their engagement in academic quality assurance and enhancement is worthwhile and makes a difference
