The University has excellent study, support and social facilities. As a research student, your Academic Faculty/School will appoint at least two suitably qualified and experienced members of staff to supervise your research and advise you on appropriate reading, research methods courses and other relevant information.
Research Degree Handbook
The Research Degree Handbook provides information and guidance on all aspects of your graduate experience at Roehampton. If your query isn't answered by the Handbook then please contact us at graduateschool@roehampton.ac.uk.
Supervisory Team
Your supervisory team will consist of a Director of Studies (who is responsible for the overall management of your programme) and at least one Co-Supervisor (who will bring additional expertise to the team). In some cases, particularly if you are conducting your research outside of the UK, an external Co-Supervisor may also be appointed to help guide you in your research. Further information on the role of the supervisory team can be found in the Research Degree Handbook.
Research Student Development Programme (RDSP)
Roehampton offers a dedicated training programme for doctoral students, the Research Student Development Programme. The RSDP is divided into three pathways: Academic Life and Education, Research and Knowledge Exchange and Innovation and Industry. Students select a pathway most appropriate to their career aspirations and we offer introductory sessions to give you a taster of each. The RSDP is supported by a dedicated moodle site which also hosts online training regarding doctoral milestones and the ethics process. In addition to the RSDP, training and opportunities to present your research will also be provided by our seven dedicated Research and Knowledge Exchange Centres.
