A programme of experiential courses.
Our Dramatherapy short courses offer an insight into the fundamentals of Dramatherapy practice, exploring key themes including the role of story, archetypes, myths and symbols. Courses will also highlight clinical applications and creative explorations into the role of a Dramatherapist, making them an ideal introduction to the practice.
All our Arts and Play Therapy Short Courses at Roehampton are experiential in nature. In our classes, you'll have the opportunity to take part in hands on activities, completing exercises and techniques to put theory into practice.
Who are these courses for?
These courses are perfect for participants looking to develop their understanding of Arts and Play Therapies. They may be of particular interest to people working in drama, theatre, the arts, health and social care, education or with a general interest in the subject. They would also be of interest to those looking for a career change or planning to undertake formal training.
Please note that the completion of any Drama Therapy Short Course does not allow you to practice Drama Therapy or guarantee a place on a qualifying Master's degree. Although these courses are experiential in nature, they are not intended to provide therapy, as such, to participants.
Fictitious quote
"I loved the hands‑on approach. Every session brought the theory of Dramatherapy to life."

Summer School
| Location | Delivery | Cost | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| On campus | 5 days | £875 | 20 – 24 July 2026 |
Drama and ritual are considered to be intimately related to each other when they are applied therapeutically. Traditionally, both ritual and drama have served humanity during points of transition and change. It is these ideas and themes that will primarily inform this summer school. During this five-day course, you will focus on exploring dramatic creativity and self-expression as a potential therapeutic intervention. You will work with an established story and progress into an exploration of the personal identification we can have with such stories – and what they 'hold' for us.
Courses will be held on site at our Roehampton Campus. Our Summer Schools are suitable for participants with no prior knowledge of the subject or who have taken part in our Introductory sessions.
You will receive a certificate of attendance if you attend a minimum of 70% of sessions and complete the informal assessment process.
