Esther was appointed Principal of Froebel College in 1901 and fought for elementary school teachers to be recognised and respected. Esther also campaigned for the college to be accepted as part of the University of London, but unfortunately was rejected at the time. However throughout her lifetime she continued to fight for training colleges like Froebel to be recognised as universities were. Under Esther’s leadership, Froebel kept its non- denominational approach but she encouraged the formation of clubs and societies and aimed to prepare students for their vocation as well as a life outside the classroom.
