Professor Richard Keogh

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Commercial)

Professor Richard Keogh is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Commercial), where he leads on the University's commercial strategy across academic and professional areas to drive growth, innovation, and impact. He has strategic oversight of research and knowledge exchange, student recruitment, marketing and communications, admissions, portfolio development, global and civic engagement, academic partnerships. His remit also includes leadership of academic schools, including Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment, and Continuing Education, which delivers a wide range of vocational, professional, and higher education programmes.

Since joining Roehampton, Richard has held a number of senior leadership positions, most recently as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and External Engagement). Under his leadership, the University achieved its strongest-ever research performance, being recognised in the Research Excellence Framework 2021 as the UK's best modern university for research quality and impact. He has also driven the creation of new academic units and expanded the University's provision into high-demand areas such as apprenticeships and online education.

Richard plays an active role in the wider region, serving as Co-Chair of the BIG South London Partnership Board, and as a member of the Wandsworth London Borough of Culture Board and the NHS Southwest London ICP People Board. Originally trained as a historian, he also brings significant consultancy experience in impact strategy and evaluation for charities and educational providers.
