Dr Sacha Powell is a leading figure in Early Childhood Education and Chief Executive Officer of the Froebel Trust, a role she has held since 2019. She leads the organisation’s strategy, research initiatives and educational programmes, championing high-quality early years practice and Froebelian principles.
Sacha’s career spans research, education and policy. Before joining the Froebel Trust, she held a distinguished position as an Honorary Professor of Early Childhood Education at the Education University of Hong Kong and, from 2014 to 2019, Director of the Research Centre for Children, Families and Communities at Canterbury Christ Church University. Her research focuses on early childhood education, policy and innovative approaches to learning, including international research into pedagogies of care for young children.
A passionate advocate for children’s rights and holistic, play-based learning, Sacha works to influence policy and practice and promote early education that respects children’s cultures, communities, strengths and interests.
