This month Bev Pullen - Roehampton Outreach’s Senior Recruitment Officer - was announced as the winner of the Aimhigher ‘Going the extra mile’ Commitment Award for her outstanding dedication to the work of Aimhigher London.
Roehampton Outreach works with partner schools and colleges to provide information, advice and guidance to prospective students. The team runs sessions and workshops throughout the year as well as organises visits to the Roehampton campus so prospective students can find out more about studying at university. These activities cover a variety of topics: how to choose the right course, student finance and budgeting, study skills, time and stress management, among others.
Roehampton and Aimhigher have a strong partnership and have been working closely together to provide assistance and encouragement to young people in South London who are considering university or further study. Aimhigher is committed to raising awareness of the opportunities further study can bring, as well as supporting students to make informed decisions about their future. This year Roehampton hosted a number of visits for Aimhigher schools including two for pupils in years 10 and 11 and one for pupils in years 7 through to 9.
Bev Pullen commented on her award: ‘It was a pleasure to win this year's commitment award for Aimhigher. I have been working with them now for 3 years and am a strong believer in ensuring the Schools and Colleges team go above and beyond to strengthen our partnership. This programme gives young people in South London the opportunities to experience the Roehampton campus and be exposed to vital progression opportunities.’
Liam Hurley, Director of Strategy and External Relations, said: ““As a University we are committed to providing opportunities to students from all backgrounds, and our partnership with Aimhigher allows us to engage with and support students, across London, to make informed decisions about their future. Many congratulations to Bev on this award, it is very well-deserved recognition of her personal commitment to the programme.”
Roehampton also won Institution of the year at the Aimhigher Awards in 2019 and 2020.
