Dr. Ian Kinane, Senior Lecturer in English Literature and General Editor of the International Journal of James Bond Studies, hosted a two-day workshop at the University from 9-10 June 2022 with Dr. Kathy Weston, a criminologist and educationalist, and Founder and Head of Research at “Tooled Up Education”; and Dr. Elly Hanson, a clinical psychologist, and Research Director of the PSHE Association initiative “Fully Human”.
The workshop explored intersectional approaches to educating secondary school students on gender violence, rape culture, consent, and toxic masculinity using the James Bond franchise as a template. Dr. Kinane and his collaborators will be trialling a pilot programme at Harrow School later this year, which will form the basis of a much larger Knowledge Exchange and Impact project.
