This year's Chancellor’s Award celebrates the success of Roehampton graduate, Chukwuemeka Nwagu, who has turned his passion for the stage into a flourishing career in theatre production.
ChuChu was invited to our September graduation ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in honour of his achievements and delivered an inspiring speech to 2023 graduates.
ChuChu graduated from Roehampton in 2017, studying Ministerial Theology. He then spent two years as an elected sabbatical officer of the Students’ Union, standing as Vice President of Community and welfare, and then as President, where he organised the first LGBQT+ student conference.
ChuChu’s career in theatre production began whilst he was still a student at Roehampton. He founded Chuchu Nwagu Productions (CNP), making his long-term goals of developing a diverse workforce and creating opportunities for employment a reality. His role at the Roehampton Student’s Union prepared him for what was ahead, inspiring him to bring about change and make an impact. He recently went on to become a co-producer on the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman and achieved a place in The Stage’s 100 Rising Stars for 2023.
Chuchu continues to play a significant role at Roehampton, volunteering at career events, mentoring and providing opportunities to students. He is a true inspiration to us all and a perfect example of the talent that the University of Roehampton London encourages and supports. As a university, we are delighted to support ChuChu and all his achievements.
