Roehampton's Dr Sue Reeves releases her new book, Mastering your Dissertation

Roehampton’s Dr Sue Reeves has a new book out: ‘Mastering your Dissertation.’ Co-authored with Bartek Buczkowski from Manchester Metropolitan, the book is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students studying Life and Health Science related subjects, undertaking dissertation projects.

The book is valuable to any student undertaking their first research project. It clearly details every stage of the dissertation process, from designing research questions, getting ethical approval, and analysing results. It also covers different types of projects, including experimental work, surveys, meta-analyses, and qualitative and quantitative studies. There is support for planning, writing, and completing a research-based thesis, checklists and examples are incorporated, ensuring a clear, step by step approach.

Dr Sue Reeves is the Head of Teaching and Learning in the School of Life and Health Sciences. She has 20 years of valuable experience, winning several teaching excellence awards. Dr Reeves explains, “from my experience of running dissertation workshops, it was clear that dissertations could be a source of stress for students, and I wanted to make sure our students had all the information and help they need to feel supported and confident as they embark upon their first research experience.”

Professor Nathan Davies from UCL Division of Medicine at University College London described the book as “an excellent guide through every stage of the dissertation. Following the steps should lead to a more successful and hopefully enjoyable dissertation experience.”
