The new society, ELSA Roehampton, founded by students from the Law Society and supported by Roehampton’s Law School, attended the XXXIII National Council Meeting in Edinburgh earlier this month.
ELSA UK is a leading platform for law students and young professionals to learn, network, and make a positive impact in the legal world. The meeting is a crucial platform for local groups to engage, share updates, and contribute to ELSA’s future direction. ELSA organises mooting competitions, work placement opportunities and networking events across the UK and Europe.
ELSA Roehampton is run by and for students and recent graduates who are interested in achieving academic and personal excellence alongside their legal or law-related studies at Roehampton.
The trip was very constructive. Students engaged with local groups and the National Board to gather practical advice on how to build and maintain member participation. They also participated in workshops, including sessions focused on financial management, sponsorship opportunities, and how ELSA groups can secure sustainable financial support for future activities.
Students also connected with members from other UK universities and gained useful insight into how other ELSA groups operate day-to-day and structure their growth.
ELSA Roehampton currently has observer status but is aiming to have full ELSA membership shortly.
