A Roehampton Sports Management student has received national and international media attention after launching East Sheen FC, a new football club with strong links to the University.

Matthew Evans, who studies Sports Management at the University of Roehampton, has seen the club featured across major outlets including Metro, The Sun, Yahoo News, MSN, AOL and the Richmond and Twickenham Times, alongside further international coverage across Europe and Africa.
The story has placed a strong focus on student leadership, entrepreneurship, sport management and community ambition, with Roehampton mentioned throughout much of the coverage.
East Sheen FC has also been contacted by BBC Radio London, who are due to film with the club next week, while The Times and other outlets are preparing further features.
The University recently caught up with Matthew at the Roehampton Futures Awards, where he spoke about his ambitions for East Sheen FC and how his studies have supported his plans for the club.
Matthew said: “It’s been a surreal couple of days, especially considering the club hasn’t even played a competitive fixture yet.
As we continue building the club, we are now also beginning conversations with potential partners and sponsors who believe in the long term vision, community impact and story behind what we’re creating at East Sheen FC.
I really appreciate all the support and opportunities Roehampton has given me over the past few years, and I’m excited to continue building something that reflects positively on both the club and the University moving forward.”
