Dr. Andrew Rogers is the principal investigator on this interdisciplinary exploration of confession of sin across church traditions, as well as beyond the church. Phase 1 of the project aimed to reflect theologically on practices of confession within charismatic evangelical networks in the UK, mainly informed by interviews with network leaders . The main output from this phase was an article in a special issue of Religions.
The project is now in phase 2 and has received funding from the Susannah Wesley Foundation. It will expand to explore the practices of confession amongst Christian leaders and congregants from a range of Christian denominations in the UK as well as from those of no religious tradition. Phase 2 runs from April 2026 to November 2027 and Dr Jonas Kurlberg has joined the project team as Research Fellow.
