Purpose
We have a long and distinguished history in educational research, working to ensure that all young people are able to benefit from enriching educational experiences, and to become active and engaged global citizens.
The Centre for Learning, Teaching and Human Development has a unique multidisciplinary nature that reflects the world-leading research interests of its members. But, more than this, it is truly inter-disciplinary, with research and knowledge exchange that blends a range of research interests that are brought together within the three common shared research themes of:
- Creative Societies
- Health and wellbeing
- Social Justice and Inclusivity
The Centre, through its world-leading research and knowledge exchange, informs policy and practice at local, regional, and governmental level both nationally and internationally. Knowledge exchange is achieved through strong relationships with schools and colleges across the UK, Europe and beyond, as well as the government ministries, non-governmental bodies working in education, and with the voluntary sector.
All the Centre’s members have strong research and/or knowledge exchange profiles with some having strong media profiles, including millions of internet hits on webpages associated with the Centre’s research, as well as TV appearances all over the world and a notable TED talk.
