Neuroscience on NPS
Jolanta Opacka-Juffry
Research led by Prof Opacka-Juffry on health-relevant effects of potentially dangerous recreational drugs has informed policy and practice internationally. The research led to the Advisory Council on the Misue of Drugs recommending that benzofurans were permantley classified as Class B subtances in the UK, the law was changed in 2014. In addition, the research has also provided guidance on the harms of NPS to those working with people with addictions through collaborations on training materials, practice and service delivery.
