Sport and Active Communities

At Roehampton, we offer a wide range of sport and physical activity opportunities for all students. From competitive sport to social activities, we have something to meet the needs of all our students.

From Badminton to Yoga, Athletics to Cheerleading and Martial Arts to Netball – there are lots of ways to get involved. Joining one of our teams or activities will help you make friends and develop skills to help in any future career.

Join a competitive sports club

Sport Roehampton clubs are open to all - from complete beginners to experienced athletes - and most offer the chance to compete for the University and receive coached sessions. All clubs have a vibrant social side and are a great way to make new friends.

The list of sports offered currently is as follows:

  • Netball
  • Badminton
  • Rowing
  • Tennis
  • Basketball
  • Hockey
  • Rugby Union
  • Boxing
  • Volleyball
  • Cheerleading
  • Kickboxing
  • Squash

There are plenty of opportunities to represent the University against other universities, competing regularly in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues and the more localised London Universities Sports Leagues (LUSL).

You can also represent the University in one-off tournaments throughout the year.

All clubs are student focused meaning that you can have significant input into how the club operates and what activities it offers. Getting involved in the running of the club gives you the chance to develop transferable skills that employers want and that really do make a difference when applying for jobs after university.
