Prize Rules and Conditions
Please read the eligibility and entry rules before submitting. 1. Entries should be sent by email to microfictionprize@roehampton.ac.uk
- The judging panel will be drawn from staff who teach on the MA Creative Writing at Roehampton, including Dr Tim Atkins, Dr Jerome Boyd Maunsell, and Dr Amy Waite.
- Writers from around the world, as well as from the UK, are welcome to enter. The first prize will be £200, with two runner-up prizes of £75 each.
- Writers must be 18 years old or over on 31 August 2026.
- The competition is open to published or unpublished writers from all backgrounds.
- The submission must be the entrant’s original work, and must not infringe upon the right or copyright of any person or entity. The submission must not have been previously published, in print or online.
- Manuscripts should be double-spaced, 12pt.
- The submission must be written in English.
- Each submission should include a biographical note, with contact details, name, and any other information deemed relevant by the entrant.
- AI can be used for research purposes, but any entry judged to have been written by AI will not be eligible for the competition.
- All decisions by the panel of judges are final.
- Copyright in submitted entries remains with the entrant. By submitting an entry, entrants grant the University of Roehampton a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, reproduce and use winning and shortlisted entries, in whole or in part, for the purposes of administering and promoting the competition and the MA Creative Writing programme. The University will credit the author where reasonably practicable. Entrants remain free to use and publish their work elsewhere.
