Clearing is your chance to discover a course that fits your future. This year Clearing runs until 19 October 2026.

We want you to feel confident about choosing the course that's right for you. On this page, you'll find lots of information and advice to help you prepare for applying. If you have any questions about Clearing, including how to apply, give us a call on 020 8392 3232 or we can call you.

Research our courses

It’s a good idea to research the courses you’re interested in, so you can start shortlisting your options. Having a few choices in mind will help you feel more confident and make the process much less stressful.

It’s also worth jotting down a few notes about each course. You might be asked questions like “Why do you want to study this course?”, so a little prep can go a long way.

With Clearing, you will find that there are lots of options available that allow you to follow a similar path to your original choice.

Why not consider applying to a foundation programme, a Foundation Studies: Certificate of Higher Education, or a course with similar content? You will find a few courses cross over with modules, for example, Business Management and Business Management and Entrepreneurship.

Be organised and prepared with what you need

Set yourself up somewhere quiet and comfortable, with everything you need in front of you. It’s a good idea to have a pen and paper ready in case you want to note down anything important.

When you speak to one of our advisors on the Clearing hotline, make sure you have the following to hand:

  • A list of your Level 2 qualifications (GCSEs or equivalent) and Level 3 qualifications (A levels, BTEC, Access etc.) and the grades you’ve achieved in each
  • Your UCAS ID number if you have one. If you’re not registered to UCAS for this cycle, don’t worry, we can still help – just give us a call
  • What you want to study (with the course title and UCAS code if you have it!)

"The team on the Clearing hotline were so friendly and helpful. They made everything feel simple and straightforward, and I was able to get my offer without any stress. That support made a big difference and helped me feel more confident in my decision."

Think about how you'll fund your studies

If you normally live in England, you can apply for student finance – and if you haven’t already, it’s important to do this as soon as possible. You can apply for both a Tuition Fee Loan and a Maintenance Loan. Your Tuition Fee Loan is paid directly to us, while your Maintenance Loan helps with living costs.

If you’ve already applied but have changed your course or university, you’ll need to update your details in your account.

We also offer some of the most generous financial support in London, including help with living and commuting costs, as well as scholarships that recognise your achievements.
