Learning and Assessment
How you’ll learn:
You will learn through a structured, practice focused approach designed specifically for postgraduate conversion students. Teaching is scaffolded, meaning you will build your knowledge and confidence step by step, progressing from core concepts to applied professional practice.
You will be introduced to key ideas through concise lectures, before deepening your understanding in guided lab sessions, applied workshops, and problem-based activities using industry relevant case studies. Team based tasks are embedded across the programme, enabling you to strengthen collaboration, communication, and professional skills alongside your technical development.
Each module includes structured formative activities that allow you to test your understanding, refine your analytical thinking, and receive regular feedback. As the programme progresses, learning activities increase in complexity, supporting your development into a confident and capable cyber security practitioner.

How you’ll be assessed:
Assessment is coursework based and professionally focused, reflecting the types of tasks you will encounter in cyber security roles. You will complete portfolios, practical and technical reports, reflective analyses, and individual or group projects, with presentations where appropriate.
Some modules also include time constrained in class assessments, such as short tests or supervised practical tasks. These are designed to help you demonstrate applied understanding, sound decision making, and problem solving under realistic conditions.
