Our Accounting (Top-up) degree is ideal if you already have a foundation degree (FdA / FdSC), Higher National Diploma (HND), years 1 and 2 of an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject at a different institution, or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.

On this top-up course you will gain the essential skills in accounting, auditing, finance, taxation, financial reporting, and data analytics and visualisation, with a focus on ethical decision-making, data-driven analysis, and sustainability. 

You will also gain hands-on experience of using real-world tools such as Bloomberg, Tableau, and SAGE, preparing you for modern professional challenges.

You will be introduced to key analytics tools and how to interpret and communicate financial insights using both quantitative and visual approaches. You will get a good grounding in audit and assurance, where you will analyse auditing concepts, evaluate ethical frameworks and professional standards and how to apply these concepts to everyday business activities.

In the transformation capstone module, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting, where you will develop strategic solutions to real-world business challenges.

Learning & assessment

The course employs case-based and experiential learning, complemented by coaching, to cultivate critical thinking, collaboration, and professional skills. 

You will work with real-world scenarios, live projects, and reflective practices. Teaching integrates lectures and practical workshops, promoting active, applied learning that will prepare you for complex, dynamic professional environments.

In state-of-the-art facilities, including our Bloomberg Trading Room and SAGE accounting software, you will apply concepts from financial accounting, management accounting, and corporate finance in practical settings.

You will engage with a wide variety of scenarios drawn from real organisations across sectors such as marketing, operations, entrepreneurship, HRM, sustainability, and strategy. These cases will challenge you to work collaboratively to analyse issues, debate alternative perspectives, and generate solutions that connect theory with practice.

You will have plenty of opportunities to test your knowledge in authentic business situations, such as live briefs, consultancy-style projects, simulated business environments, enterprise activities, and opportunities to contribute to social impact or civic engagement initiatives.
 
You will undertake a capstone project, where you will choose from a range of pathways from research to sustainability-focused interventions.
