At the heart of campus, our library is designed to support your success from day one.

Whether you're studying independently, collaborating with classmates or carrying out research, you'll find the resources, technology and expert support you need to succeed.

Home to hundreds of thousands of books, extensive digital resources and more than 1,000 seats, the library offers a range of spaces to suit the way you work. You'll also have support from specialist library advisers who can help you find your way around the library, our resources and services, and develop your study skills throughout your degree.

Whatever and however you study, our library is here to support every stage of your academic journey.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building, along with a café for when you need a break.

If you’d like to study outside library opening hours, you’ll have access to the 24-hour study space in the Queen’s Building.

Finding and borrowing resources

With your student ID card, you can borrow up to 30 items at a time using our self-service machines.

Our collections span three floors and cover every subject area taught at Roehampton, from Business and Law to Psychology, Education, Humanities, Life and Health and Social Sciences.

If you need remote access to content from a print item on our shelves, our Scan & Send service allows you to request journal articles or extracts from books and receive them digitally. Students based at Whitelands can also use our free Click and Collect service.

Moodle

Moodle is your virtual learning environment, where you'll access lecture notes, recordings, reading lists, learning activities and other course materials in one place.

You'll also see upcoming assignment deadlines on your dashboard, helping you stay organised and avoid any last-minute issues.

Digital resources for learning and leisure

Alongside academic resources, you'll also have free access to a range of digital platforms to support your learning and wellbeing.

PressReader gives you access to more than 7,000 newspapers and magazines from over 120 countries in 60 languages, online or through the app.

Kanopy gives you access to thousands of films, documentaries, training courses and educational videos, including classic cinema, independent films and international titles.

The BFI Player streaming service gives you access to a wealth of British and international films, with over 450 titles across a range of genres, including comedy, drama and fantasy.

We're committed to making our library services, facilities and resources accessible to all students.

That’s why we offer:

Assistive platforms and software, including Sensus Access, ClaroRead and MindView
Digital formats and digitisation services
Induction loops at reception
Low-level library catalogue desks on every floor
Personalised library tours and inductions
Proxy borrowing services, allowing nominated helpers to borrow materials on your behalf

Students registered with our Disability and Dyslexia Services can also access additional equipment loans, including laptops and digital voice recorders.

Special collections and archives

Our library is also home to a unique collection of rare books and archives original documents and artefacts that support teaching, learning and research across a range of subjects.

Open to students, researchers and visitors, these collections offer unique insights into specialist areas including early childhood education, children's literature, dance and religious studies.

Highlights include the internationally renowned Froebel Archive for Childhood Studies, the literary archive of Richmal Crompton and the Ann Hutchinson Guest Collection, giving you access to unique materials not widely available elsewhere.

Support for postgraduates and researchers

Postgraduate study often requires deeper research and more independent learning. That's why we offer dedicated library support to help you develop your research skills and access the resources you need.
