This course also offers the option of a Professional Experience Year. This programme combines dynamic career modules with flexible placement opportunities. After completing your first year of study, you'll then complete a full year of Professional Experience training as part of your degree. This will give you real career experience. On this course, created in line with national standards, you will learn:

Cyber security is a global concern which impacts every society that relies on being digitally connected. The ever-growing concern of cyber-crime spans across the globe and requires enthusiastic and dedicated individuals like yourself who can rise to the complex challenges of cyber security.

Modules on this course are delivered in an applied and practical way mirroring real-world contexts where you will learn by producing artefacts of increasing significance and complexity.

The focus of this course is to ensure you are ready to enter the tech industry on graduation with a clear focus around developing a practical portfolio through collaborative teaching, teamwork, and a final project that you can show to potential employers.

The University of Roehampton London is a member of several industry academic programmes including AWS Academy, Cisco Academy, Microsoft Azure and the Splunk Academic Programme, through which students may work towards completing industry recognised certifications alongside their degree. You will also have opportunities to network with industry professionals through student employability events, guest speakers on campus and technical meetups across London (e.g. the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP)).

We deliver all computing programmes in an active blended learning style, with:

  • most lectures replaced by workshops and seminars
  • a learning environment focused on collaborative working in practical lab spaces
  • an environment based on working in the IT industry

This course offers an optional professional placement year which means you will be able to work a paid role in industry while also earning recognised credits towards your degree. Through CV workshops, mock interviews and industry links, the University’s employability team can help support you in finding and securing a work placement.
